Focus and Scope. Acta Medica Lituanica is peer-reviewed diamond open access scholarly journal published by Vilnius University in collaboration with the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and the National Cancer Institute. It publishes high quality original research papers, reviews and case studies mostly from the Central and Eastern Europe. The journal is also publishing research from other regions if they provide useful insights and lessons in fundamental and clinical medicine for journal’s readership. The journal aims to contribute to the development and dissemination of multidisciplinary knowledge on various fields of medicine and biomedical sciences. The journal welcomes original papers, review articles, preliminary notes, short communications and case reports.
Publication frequency – two volumes per year.
Languages. The journal accepts manuscripts in English.
Charges. The journal does not apply any type of charge for article submission or processing.

History. Established in 1994 as an official journal of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences.
Journal Policy. The Editorial Board of Acta Medica Lituanica has accepted the “Editorial Policy Statements” and “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts (URM) Submitted to Biomedical Journals” produced and updated by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME) as a basis of the journal’s editorial policy.
Acta Medica Lituanica provides immediate open access to all it’s contents without charge to users or their institutions on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles in this journal without asking prior permission of the publisher or the author. The journal does not charge for article processing or submission. Articles published in the journal are distributed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 (CC BY 4.0) license.
Ethics Statement. We follow guidance from COPE to support the ethical publishing principles. The guidelines are applied to the journal editors, authors, and peer-reviewers. The journal will follow the COPE flowcharts on how to deal with potential acts of misconduct.
We are member of the Initiative for Open Citations (i4OC) which is a multi-stakeholder project to make scholarly citation data openly available to enable the creation of new and better metrics.
We are members of the The Initiative for Open Abstracts (I4OA) which is a collaboration between scholarly publishers, infrastructure organizations, librarians, researchers and other interested parties to advocate and promote the unrestricted availability of the abstracts of the world's scholarly publications, particularly journal articles and book chapters, in trusted repositories where they are open and machine-accessible.
The journal is a participant of Open Archives Initiative. The Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH) is a low-barrier mechanism for repository interoperability.
