Abstract

Contemporary scientific achievements allow for referring to a human being as an integral system of spirit, soul (psyche) and body and for grounding (self-)education on this system. A particular role is played by the spiritual dimension, which manifests itself in experiences of transcendentals (truth, goodness, and beauty).
The research has shown that about half of the adolescents most frequently have communicative experiences, more than one fourth of them go through praxic, hedonistic and altruistic ones. Acquisitive, national, and religious feelings are least frequently linked with pleasant experiences. Adequately stable sources of experiencing feelings include communication with peers, after-curricular activities, whereas communication with teachers, belief in God, sex and drugs are perceived as least suggestible.
Experiences of spiritual values are not deep and show a weak correlation or no correlation at all. Esthetical and gnostic feelings reveal no statistically significant positive correlations.
The analysis of experiences of spiritual values among adolescents over the decade has revealed the same tendencies, only with an increasing polarisation. The most considerable positive change was observed in communicative experiences, which was conditioned by latest developments in communication technologies. Romantic experiences underwent negative changes, whereas pragmatic needs of adolescents demonstrated an upward tendency.
Experiences of all the spiritual values have been causing a certain concern. However, gnostic feelings, which have strongest relations to the most important adolescent activities, are particularly problematic, they fail to meet the challenges of the epoch and tend to weaken. The same applies to national and religious experiences.
